Uses

Directions for Use
For massage, mix 5 drops with 10 ml carrier oil. For a bath, mix 5 drops with 5 ml carrier oil. For perfuming, mix 1 drop with 10 drops carrier oil. For external use only.

Sourcing
doTERRA Frankincense essential oil is made from a proprietary blend of three different frankincense resins: Boswellia carterii, Boswellia frereana and Boswellia sacra. Different species of frankincense trees thrive in different conditions and soil types. Some species prefer sandy soil, while others flourish in dry, rocky environments. doTERRA therefore sources frankincense from multiple locations so that each type of resin used in the oil comes from the place where that particular Boswellia species can grow under the most favourable conditions.
Frankincense was already a valuable trade commodity in ancient Egyptian, Assyrian, Persian, Macedonian and Kushite cultures. These precious resins can therefore be said to have formed part of one of the world’s oldest global supply chains.
The essential oil is obtained from the resin of the frankincense tree. Also known as the “tears” of the frankincense tree, the resin is cleaned and then sorted by size and colour before distillation begins.
In Somaliland, the raw material for Frankincense essential oil comes from the Sanaag region. Nearly one third of the country’s population lives in this area, and harvesting frankincense is their main source of income. In Somaliland, trees are passed down from generation to generation, and resin harvesters have access to the trees in particular areas on the basis of tribal rights.
